Amanda’s Blog
At 28 years old, the last thing Amanda Frigge Ruplinger wants to hear her doctor say is “You’re at risk for sudden cardiac death” and hand her a brochure on heart failure.
For more than five years Amanda has had high blood pressure that has to be maintained with daily medication. She also has high triglycerides but finds it difficult to fill another prescription for something she may be able to prevent with diet and exercise. In addition to these health concerns, she has a family history of heart disease and stroke.
“I have a lot working against me in terms of my likelihood of getting heart disease. I need to make changes to my daily life now to improve my health. I know that in 12 weeks, I can make a lot of improvements, but it will only be the start of my journey. This challenge is helping me start the rest of my life.”
The newlywed expresses herself as anxious to get her heart both healthy and ready to love the family she hopes to have some day, soon.
“I Go Red for what is yet to come. I Go Red for what’s ahead.”
