Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

LifeMatters is the employee assistance and work/life program available to UW Health staff. LifeMatters offers free, confidential financial services, legal consultation and counseling services for personal problems such as stress, depression, substance abuse or workplace conflicts. Counseling services are available at no cost to you, your family or your household members. 

While Physicians are not eligible for the LifeMatters program, they can take advantage of similar services and access their EAP through the University of Wisconsin-Madison. School of Medicine and Public Health faculty and staff – EAP program.  

LifeMatters provides 24/7, confidential, telephonic or in-person counseling for:

  • Self-improvement/personal development
  • Family, parenting or job concerns
  • Legal matters and financial questions
  • Family and dependent care needs
  • Alcohol or drug abuse questions or problems
  • Emotional or stress-related issues
  • Building and improving relationships
  • Coping with change

LifeMatters can be accessed by phone or online.

Phone: The program’s user-friendly, confidential services are available to you, your family and your household members 24 hours a day, every day of the year by calling 1-800-634-6433. Calling LifeMatters put you in contact with a Master’s trained clinician, willing to assist you and provide you with a whole health assessment. UW Health’s Company Code is UWH1.

Online: Online, go to mylifematters.com. You will be prompted to enter a password. UW Health’s Company Code is UWH1. You can access a wealth of online resources, including educational information, useful links, help locating child and elder care providers and self-assessment tests.

Phone App: LifeMatters has an app available through the App Store and Google Play! The LifeMatters app provides you quick, convenient access to services.
