Fall 4 Walking Program Information and Tracker

Each week during the program, we will focus on the following weekly topics:

  1. Beth says:

My trip to New York, NY was fabulous. It was a little hard to walk mindfully but I managed to do it. I also managed to walk 45 miles during the week 10/10 thru 10/14. Amazing. Central Park helped!

  2. Carolyn says:

I participated and completed my 1st 5K walk (s/p bilateral knee replacements by the way)last Sat 8/12, in Indianapolis and it what kept me going was
mindfulness, staying in the moment while enjoying the sites along the route, and not worrying about making it a race, but a goal to finish!

  3. lj says:

walking- have restarted in addition to do mindfulness 30min/day with best goal daily. minimum 3x/week. trying to keep this the focus

    • Wellness says:

lj, great goal! Even if you don’t get a full 30 minutes of mindfulness, you are still accomplishing the goal of TRYING to clear your mind and be present.

  4. Brenda Barger says:

I started a new walking route yesterday and practicing some meditation while stretching before my walk. I felt more relaxed and energized at the same time.

    • Wellness says:

Brenda, WONDERFUL! That is what we hope for with mindful movement. It is that relaxed and energized feeling that will keep you going!

  5. Aly says:

I have a question: is there a minimum of “mindful” walking before we ought to count it to fill in the square? (I’m thinking maybe 15 minutes?)

  6. MaryB says:

I am so glad for the Fall for Walking incentive again this year to get out from the desk and enjoy the time walking and the season.

  7. Peggy says:

    Nice Labyrinth keychain! 🙂

    • wellness says:

We are glad you like it Peggy! Use it as a reminder of your six-week journey. Hold it, look at it, clear your mind and be present to this moment.

  8. libbey meister says:

hard to get away..but so worth it. Thanks for the reminder!

  9. Ebenezer says:

I concur with others that the benefits of the program is great. Even though I have been super busy in the office for the past few weeks, this program has become a great way to cool the tension and relax my brain and whole body. Although I have been unable to do it everyday, it has become a necessary part of my week at least 3 times per week. I expect to continue this even after November 1.

  10. Kathy Zawacki says:

No danger of excitement wearing off! Just beginning to hit my stride (pun intended)! Going deeper into the relaxed pace and awareness of my surroundings. Love how the day just peels off! This has absolutely been the best wellness program I’ve participated in yet! I feel SO much better in mind, body and spirit after I walk mindfully – thank you for introducing this!

  11. Emily Mowry says:

I find that getting away from my desk for a walk revs up my energy level. It’s been great to watch as building projects progress and the leaves change. So thankful for my co-workers that I walk with.

  12. Faye says:

No way the excitment is still here. The colors are so pretty to look at and I have a dog that loves going for walks. She will bark at the door waiting to go. I jsut love this program and wish we had more.

  13. Peggy says:

Yes, we are still here! Lose excitement? No way with all the beautiful, ever changing fall scenery.

  14. Susan says:

Great program to keep reminding us to move outside!

  15. Holly Wilund says:

A friend and I walk everyday at lunch outdoors if possible. This is very refreshing, and clears your mind, reduces stress and prepares/refreshes you for the second half of your day.

  16. Teri Ott says:

A group of us tend to walk everyday but it is always nice to have the programs that you provide as incentive. I have found the program and having a group keeps me accountable. Even on days one of us is a little off or tired we encourage each other to get out an walk at lunch. It makes a huge difference. I would say to anyone who says, “I don’t have time.” Studies have shown that taking the time to walk away from your work will be more productive to the task and especially to your well being in the long run! Thank you for the opportunities!

    • Wellness says:

We appreciate your feedback. We hope that you find this program allows you to think about what is going on in your head while walking. Enjoy!

  17. Mary Jean Erschen-Cooke says:

This is an excellent combination of physical activity and mindfulness! Thank you for leading this excellent initiative! Very excited!!!

  18. Corrine says:

I enjoy walking outdoors. I am going to try and walk everyday on my lunch at work. It’s nice to leave everything from the daily routine behind to recharge and reset for the second half of the day.

    • Wellness says:

Corrine, thanks for posting! That’s exactly what the Fall 4 Walking program is about, it’s what is going on in your head while walking that counts.

  19. Michelle Sobojinski says:

Fall is my favorite season! Excited to have an additional reason to get out there an enjoy the Fall colors!

    • Wellness says:

Enjoy the fall weather and the tree leaves changing color. What a great way to get outside and clear your mind!

  20. Beth Rasmussen says:

I can’t wait to do this. Fall is my Fav season. I already have 3 co-workers who are joining me! YAY!

  21. Deanna Letts says:

One of my goals is to do more walking so this program is very timely. I also love the fall and will try and do more walking at area parks.

  22. Laura J. Hatfield says:

Sounds like a great idea to move and enjoy the beauty of the fall. Nice before winter.
